Summer 2024 Upward Bound/Trio-Subr

Over the past three summers, I have been teaching Introduction to Physics at Upward Bound/TRIO located at SUBR. This summer students were given an assignment that merged creativity with scientific concepts by creating TikTok videos that explain distance, displacement, reference points, and motion. This assignment engages students with the material in a relatable manner and think critically about how these physics concepts are present in everyday life. Students created a gotta have it checklist to use as their guide. The "gotta have it" checklist serves as a guide to ensure that all essential elements are included in their projects. Since they were living on campus, they did not have laptops available. This could have been a setback instead; it became an opportunity to utilize the technology at hand: their cellphones. This is an example of the effective use of technology in education, turning potential hindrance into tools to enhance learning experiences.
